Shattered glass movie review

In the movie shattered glass Hayden Christensen acts the as a  scandalous young journalist called Stephen Glass. Hayden does a good job of portraying Stephen glass by wearing a powder blue shirt, thick glasses, and has a haircut. These makes our character appear as stereotypical  diligent economics major in a university. The movie takes place in 1998, and Glass, at the age of  twenty five , is one of  the youngest investigative writer-editor at The New Republic. Padding through the corridors of the prestigious Washington weekly in his khaki socks, Glass is a an upcoming figure, but he takes care to present himself as the office  good, kind, showing a nervous quick smile as he express admiration to his coworkers (”that makes almost everyone defend him!”), mixing loveliness and self-deprecation with an outspoken sense of trust and friendliness that makes you want to pet him. When he thinks he’s made a slight mistake, he eagerly asks, ”Are you mad at me?” He tries his best to be a favor that would make him get away with it.

The movie is majorly focussed on Stephen and his violation of the code of ethics.  The characters act well and show his story from the perspective of his co workers. The movie shows the emotional attachment his coworkers had on one side and strict editor who made sure that everything was going well on the other side. Making the the movie show the story from many dimensions is one of the great thing the characters have managed to project.

The movie is less about Stephen's experience as a journalist and more about what the youth should know about being a journalist. This theme is developed by making Hayden focus on talking to the students and tell them about the past ugly things that he did. The movie teaches whose audience indirectly by showing them how bad scamming and making up stories can bring a consequence even your friends might fail to solve.

The movie shows the story from a flashback. It doesn't  show Stephen regretting of what he did but instead it shows him trying to insist that he did not do anything. This could be because the movie wants to have as little effort as possible in portraying Stephen`s character as an individual and strong emphasis on his work ethics as a journalist. Lacking this makes the movie have little emphasis on making bad journalists know that their actions and acts can change. Having an extreme concentration on his work as a journalist makes the average viewer not see themselves when they're watching the movie.

The movie focuses on his outsider strength rather his inner weakness that was buried using his smile during the beginning .  The movie exposes his weakness as he begins crying and refusing to get out of the office The movie makes Stephen the center of  attention and everyone surrounds him since he is a character with a sense of humor.

In conclusion the movie is generally recommendable for people who have an interest in media and ethics since it tells the audience  real story of unethical journalist who lived in Washington, D.C.  Journalist Stephen Glass (Christensen), rose  high as a young writer during his mid 20`s , making him a staff writer at "The New Republic" from 1995 to 1998. During his time with ¨The New  Republic¨ 27 out  of his 41 published stories were either partially or completely made up. Looking for an easy way to get fame, Glass made up sources, quotes and even entire stories, but his deception did not stay hidden  forever. Eventually his world began shaking as he was exposed by the fiction story he wrote about a hacker. The movie clearly shows each and every thing not only his perspective but that of others too. The audience is not only taught what Steven thinks about himself but also how everyone around him thinks about him based on the reputation he had.
